This month (January) in Language Arts we finished reading the book Snow Bound, and we finished our monthly book report. The book that I read was called Twilight. Twilight is the first book in the series called Twilight. Also in Language Arts we read Sightline books called “The Street That Got Mislaid” and the other book was “Thank You Ma’m”. This month in Science we dissected a cows heart and I thought that it was so cool. You could actually stick your finger inside and feel around everywhere, also in all it’s tubes. We finally finished presenting our individual projects on the parts of the body. She told us about all the parts of the heart and them we are going to have a test on them at the end of the month. In Math we learned how to multiply, divide, subtract and add fractions and then in February we are going to have a test on them, but I think it is going to be easy. In French we had a test on the negative forms of writing and we worked in our booklets. In Social Studies we are currently learning about Mesopotamia and we are starting posters as well as brochures, and it is a blast. In band we finally got our sheet music and then started to practice them. Students from SCI came over to help us sound better and also to understand the notes.

This month is October and I went to the soccer Crossovers at E.S.S. We played E.S.S. in the finals again and won 2-0!! Our whole team got separate little ribbons for getting 1st and for the school we earned the championship banner! I have also played in a volleyball tournament at John Henderson. We won all our games until we got to the finals we lost against Arthur A. Leach. We were making lots of mistakes and they took advantage of that. After that tournament we had a mini volleyball tournament at S.M.S. I was sick so I couldn’t go, but our team won all our games by a lot. Finally, I went to cross-country Divisional’s at Pope’s Hill. It was a miserable day, and the grade 8 girls were also the last to run. In the end I got the 4th place ribbon, Rae got the 5th place ribbon, Hailey got 10th I think and Kyla got 14th.
I’m not sure what place Hannah got but I know the grade 7 and 8’s both brought home banners for the school! Now with school. In LA we finished reading The Wild Children and also started and finished a different book called Daniel’s Story. We had to make a Photo Album on this book, and I got 100%! We also did Letter to Self, Book Report, and watched a movie called Life is Beautiful. It was also based on the Holocaust, which made it a sad ending. In French we watched several movies on Quebec and learned 2 new verbs: partir and pouvoir. We also did a reading out loud assignment that I had to do with Justin T. In Science we’ve been working with microscopes and learning about different kinds of organisms. We just recently had a test on microscopes, it was pretty easy. In Social we finished a Paleolithic poster. My group did really well.

As September started, we started to do stuff in LA like read the book called The Wild Children, which is about a boy named Alex that lost his family to the police. We also started writing in our journal. In Math with Mrs. Both we did a review from last year that surprisingly I remembered, that included fractions, adding and subtracting decimals and more. When we came to science we made a title page called “Cells and Systems” and we talked about atoms and H20, which was a little weird. In social studies we worked on our world views and we talk about BCE—before common era and CE— common era. In French we worked in a booklet called Reunion a Quebec which was kind of confusing at first but then I got the hang of it . Oh! There was also start up week were we did stuff like the A-Z poster which was awesome, we also did the bird dance stomp, which was really scary. In gym we played dodge ball and a bit of volleyball which I’m not that good at. In Band we practiced!
Well that was our crazy first month!!
