News from Talent Development
Another exciting year is planned in the area of Talent Development. You may be asking, what is Talent Development? It’s a program designed to find special talents that students at SMS have, then teaching, and developing those talents. The following are some of the activities available through Talent Development:
Yearbook
This year we have a crew of students who are working on the Springfield Middle School yearbook together with me. Each homeroom has at least one representative on the yearbook committee so that all classes will have equal representation. It is an enormous task, but with this dedicated crew it will be sure to be a wonderful keepsake for the staff and students of our school.
Curling
Curling is alive and well in Springfield. This year we have many new curlers participating in the Springfield Curling Club’s Junior and Teen Curling Leagues. In total 64 students participate in these leagues from our Springfield schools (Anola, Ecole Dugald School, Oak Bank Elementary, Springfield Middle School and Springfield Collegiate). It’s a fun way to stay in shape and a sport that you can participate in for a lifetime!
On-line Agenda Team
Every day we have a group of dedicated students who post the on-line agenda on our school web page for your convenience. Parents and students can keep in touch with what is going on in each classroom and a complete list of homework assignments for each subject area. Just log on to Sunrise School Division, Springfield Middle School and the students’ homeroom agenda link!
Recycling Teams
Each homeroom has a group of students who are responsible for taking the recycling out on Wednesday afternoons. Thank you to all members of our recycling team who take their responsibility seriously and always have the recycling prepared for Thursday morning pick up!
